This is a full-time, permanent position based in Fredericton, NB.
Objective:
The primary objective of the Data & Research Analyst is to collect, manage, analyze, and communicate data that supports Ignite's strategic decision-making and regional economic development initiatives.
This role combines economic research, business intelligence, CRM management, and data analysis to help the organization better understand the regional economy, measure organizational performance, identify emerging trends, and support evidence-based decision-making.
The successful candidate will proactively monitor key economic indicators, maintain accurate and high-quality data within HubSpot CRM, and transform complex information into meaningful insights that support staff, partners, municipalities, investors, and stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Economic Research & Intelligence
- Monitor regional, provincial, national, and international economic trends.
- Track key economic indicators such as GDP, unemployment, labour force participation, business counts, housing, demographics, and other relevant metrics.
- Stay informed on publications and data releases from organizations such as Statistics Canada, the Bank of Canada, and provincial government departments.
- Review newly released economic reports and identify insights relevant to Ignite and the Capital Region.
- Prepare concise economic briefs, reports, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Conduct research to support investment attraction and regional economic development initiatives.
- Develop community profiles, sector profiles, labour market summaries, and economic snapshots.
Data Analysis & Business Intelligence
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that support organizational decision-making.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement using data analytics.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across Ignite's programs and initiatives.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
CRM & Data Management
- Maintain accurate and high-quality organizational data within HubSpot CRM.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
- Support continuous improvements to data collection, reporting processes, and organizational performance measurement.
Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support strategic initiatives and special projects.
- Prepare reports and data for funding applications, Board reporting, municipal initiatives, investment attraction, and program evaluation.
- Serve as Ignite's internal resource for data quality, reporting, and economic intelligence.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Community or Economic Development, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience working in a collaborative, goal-oriented environment
- 2–5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, research, or economic development.
- Experience working with CRM systems, preferably HubSpot.
- Experience developing dashboards and analytical reports.
- Highly proficient computer skills, ability to operate within a CRM system (HubSpot) computerized spreadsheets and word processing programs at a highly proficient level
- Strong data visualization skills
- Experience in dashboard creation and management
- Experience in Project Management
- Strong research skills and familiarity with websites and applications such as Statistics Canada.
- Strong interpersonal & relationship building skills, ability to deal effectively with partners and stakeholders in the public and private sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills and a good listener
- Self-motivated and goal oriented
- Strong organization skills
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Enhanced reliability regarding confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions and judgments
- Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred
