Job Summary
The Lead Hand; supports the Production Supervisor by coordinating day-to-day activities on the plant floor, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent operation of the manufacturing process. This role provides hands-on leadership to production operators, assists with troubleshooting equipment and workflow issues, and helps maintain quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Operations
- Organize and assign tasks to production operators based on shift priorities
- Ensure optimal workflow in areas such as material handling, cut shop, fabrication and finishing
- Monitors production processes and responds to problems or bottlenecks quickly
2. Safety Leadership
- Enforce all plant safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout rules
- Report and help investigate near misses, hazards and incidents
- Coach team members on safe work practices and lead by example
- Sign off on all production records ensuring completeness and accuracy
3. Quality Control
- Conduct in-process quality checks and ensure products meet required specifications
- Coordinate with the Quality Department to ensure frequent daily inspections during production
- Escalate quality issues to supervisors and assist in root-cause investigations
- Ensure operators follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and work instructions
4. Team Support and Training
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new and existing operators
- Act as the first point of contact for operator questions or concerns
- Help build a team-focused, accountable, and respectful work environment
- Maintains the flexibility to assist in all areas of the production floor as needed to ensure that target levels are achieved and maintained eg: welding, cut shop, material handling etc…
- Perform production welding when needed
5. Equipment & Process Support
- Maintains an adequate supply of tools, hardware and supplies as needed to ensure production levels are maintained.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to ensure equipment issues are resolved quickly and downtime is minimized.
- Support basic troubleshooting of equipment issues before involving maintenance.
- Ensure proper machine setup and startup/shutdown procedures are followed
- Verify cleanliness and organization of the work area according to 5S principles.
6. Communication & Reporting
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective and courteous manner with coworkers and management.
- Facilitates and executes the production plan
- Take ownership and responsibility for meeting all production targets
- Communicate shift updates, production targets, and issues to Supervisors
- Assist in maintaining production logs, downtime records, and quality documentation
- Participate in shift meetings to ensure smooth continuity of operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Energetic individuals, able to work in fast paced environment with high productivity.
- 3-5 years’ experience with GMAW (MIG) welding in a production environment.
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands on experience as a lead hand in a production environment
- Ability to read technical documents, SOP’s, and quality specifications
- Transferable CWB welding certification is an asset.
- Basic computer skills (ERP experience an asset)
Work Conditions
- Standing for up to 10 hours per day
- Frequent movement (lifting (up to 60lbs), carrying, bending, turning and pulling)
- Ability to work in high-temperature, noisy industrial environments
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per company standards
Hours of Work
- Minimum 40 hours per week, 10 hour shifts.
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to ensure deadlines and priorities are met, including overtime and weekends.

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
