Overview
We are seeking a hospitality leader to take on the role of Executive Housekeeper. This department head will lead all housekeeping operations including staff of the housekeeping division. Responsibility includes management of departmental priorities such as scheduling, payroll, room assignments, training, as well as implementation of operating procedures and standards. Prioritizing financial management tasks including adherence to the operating budget. Supports staff and performs the duties of a housekeeper when operation requires. Recruit, train, schedule and evaluate performance of team members on an ongoing basis. Establish a friendly work environment for superior guest service and product quality acting as a leader of the executive team.
Housekeeping Operations
· Maintains brand cleanliness standards for both rooms and public areas and inspects them to ensure that standards are met.
· Trains staff in all aspects of housekeeping, including guest services.
· Administers guest satisfaction inspection procedures and reports.
· Responsible for key control and lost-and-found items; ensures staff are trained to follow correct procedures for both.
· Plans work schedules and room assignments daily.
· Empowers hotel staff to deliver great guest experience by encouraging responsiveness to guest needs.
· Meets, and exceeds, brand standard requirements for hotel cleanliness.
· Ensures hotel standards and services contribute to the delivery of a consistent guest experience.
· Prioritizes labour cost controls and reduces departmental expenses.
· Produces accurate monthly and weekly reporting.
· Purchases cleaning supplies, linens and cleaning chemicals as required.
· Maintains supply inventory and monitors that staff are following correct inventory/cost control procedures.
People Management
· Helps to develop management talent by acting as a mentor for direct reports.
· Lead and create a team environment which promotes excellent employee morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the hotel.
· Ensures effective communication with team members by holding regular briefing sessions while attending all management meetings.
· Uses ongoing safety training to minimize workers’ compensation claims.
· Monitors and maintains acceptable turnover levels within established thresholds.
· Manages human resources functions, including recruiting, interviewing, orientation, training, performance planning and evaluating programs to maintain a skilled, qualified work force.
· Emphasizes training and development as a way of doing business to empower employees to provide excellent guest service.
· Enforces hotel policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
· Resolves employee concerns and/or challenges in a fair and timely manner.
· Ensures housekeepers know their tasks and responsibilities while upholding expected productivity and quality standards.
Guest Experience
· Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel.
· Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding promptly to guest needs with an interest and concern in satisfying every guest.
· Ensures hotel staff, including all new hires, know all components of guest service guarantee and are trained to meet service standards.
· Develops added value customer service programs regarding housekeeping services.
· Ability to communicate with guests about hotel promotions, local attractions and points of interest.
Responsible Business
As a department leader in the hotel, you will identify operational challenges that reduce the effectiveness of housekeeping activities and overall hotel profitability while working with appropriate department heads to implement solutions. Department leaders are expected to perform any additional job duties as assigned by the hotel General Manager.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
· Minimum 4 years of hotel housekeeping experience with minimum 3 years of supervisory and/or management experience.
· Excellent leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
· Must be able to work independently and have the drive to succeed.
· Knowledge of hotel industry trends.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Must speak fluent English; additional languages are an asset.
· Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills.
· Knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
· Commitment to maintaining a high level of professional appearance and personal deportment.
· Hotel experience with globally recognized brands such as Best Western Hotels is a major asset.
