Position Overview Staffinity is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Field Geologist for our premier client located in Sudbury, Ontario. The base salary range is $70,000 – $90,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package, along with a signing bonus and/or relocation support for the right candidate.
Our client is an Ontario-based mineral exploration company advancing high-quality multi-commodity opportunities at their flagship project in Northern Ontario. We are seeking a keen, energetic geologist to support an active drill program and ongoing exploration initiatives.
Ideal Candidate Profile: We are looking for a hands-on, safety-conscious earth sciences professional with a strong teamwork attitude and high technical aptitude. You must be comfortable working in active field and drill environments, ready to manage geological data accurately, and eager to expand your software and mapping skills.
Responsibilities
- Core Logging & Sampling: Perform diamond drill core logging and systematic sampling according to strict QA/QC protocols.
- Data Management: Maintain and manage accurate geological and drilling datasets.
- Drill Support: Spot new collar locations and access routes for diamond drills, and conduct drill rig inspections.
- Fieldwork & Mapping: Conduct field mapping and bedrock sampling across exploration targets.
- Environmental Support: Provide essential field support for ongoing environmental baseline studies.
- Safety & Compliance: Uphold site-specific safety procedures, environmental protocols, and industry best practices at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Earth Science specializing in Geology or a closely related geoscience field.
- Geological Knowledge: Solid understanding of fundamental geological concepts, including mineralogy and structural geology.
- Drilling Familiarity: Knowledge of surface diamond drilling operations and rig inspection procedures.
- Technical Skills: Aptitude to learn core logging software as well as standard 2D and 3D GIS programs.
- Licensing & Certifications: Valid Ontario-recognized driver’s license and eligibility for the Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation recognized in Ontario.
- Assets: Knowledge of volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits and prior safety training/certificates are considered strong assets.
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
