Full job description

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across the lifespan. The NP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic health conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and risk evaluations
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with best practices
Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment plans
Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR)
Collaborate with physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed
Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
Develop educational programs for employees
Administrative responsibilities, financial management
Staff Management

Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited program
Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Nurse Practitioner
Current Certification of Registration as an Extended Class RN in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Meets CNO requirements to prescribe controlled substances
Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Good understanding of the Health and Safety Act
Bilingual (asset)
Successful Vulnerable Sector Check

Strong clinical advanced practice assessment and diagnostic skills
Practice autonomously, offering full scope of practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Demonstrate high levels of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
Ability to travel between local sites
Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
Function as an educator
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills
Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Leadership abilities

Work Environment

Willing to work in both Occupational settings and private clinic practices
Work Hours: Mondays to Fridays

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
Ability to lift or assist patients as needed
Manual dexterity for clinical procedures
Valid Driver’s license

Pay: $48.00-$68.00 per hour
