Full job description

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisors, the Clinical Associate provides assessment and treatment services to children, youth, and families within a multidisciplinary clinical setting. The Clinical Associate conducts psychological assessments , including diagnostic, developmental, behavioural, and treatment planning assessments, based on individual client needs and referral questions.

The successful candidate will also hold registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as either a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Registered Social Worker (SW) and will provide individual and group psychotherapy services using evidence-based and client-centered approaches. The Clinical Associate is an integral member of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering high-quality assessment and treatment services to children, youth, and families across Northern Ontario.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

● Participate in weekly or bi-weekly supervision from Clinical Supervisors;

● Participate in ongoing professional development through peer coaching, company training, scheduled supervision and performance appraisal;

● Write assessment and treatment reports;

● Adhere to all professional and ethical standards, legislative requirements, and company policies and procedures.

● Comply with all health and safety regulations and Roots & Wings Psychology’s safe work practices and procedures and immediately report any hazards to Clinical Supervisors;

● Ability to effectively prioritize and manage numerous tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

Assessment Services

● Conduct psychological assessments for children and youth up to 18 years of age for diagnostic, developmental, behavioural, and treatment planning purposes;

● Administer, score, interpret, and communicate psychometric assessment results;

● Prepare comprehensive clinical reports and recommendations;

● Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary Autism Diagnostic Team;

● Travel throughout Northern Ontario to conduct assessments as required;

● Participate in regular clinical review meetings and provide updates to Clinical Supervisors regarding assessment progress and outcomes;

● Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards;

● Perform other related duties as assigned.

Treatment Services

● Provide individual and group psychotherapy services to children, youth, and families;

● Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic goals in collaboration with clients and caregivers;

● Supervise therapists delivering individual and group psychotherapy services to children, youth, and families;

● Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs;

● Provide compassionate, client-centered care within a clinical environment;

● Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress through ongoing data collection and clinical observation;

● Collaborate with caregivers, schools, and community partners to support coordinated care and treatment planning;

● Apply case management skills to support continuity of care and access to appropriate services;

● Demonstrate experience working with pediatric populations, including children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex mental health and behavioural needs.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Social Work, or a related field;

● Registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as a Registered Psychotherapist or with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Registered Social Worker;

● Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with children and adolescents in assessment and/or treatment settings;

● Minimum of two (2) years’ experience conducting psychometric assessments with children and adolescents is preferred;

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong clinical report-writing abilities; proficiency in both official languages is considered a strong asset;

● Demonstrated experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy interventions and treatment planning;

● Experience and training in one or more therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy , and/or Family Therapy;

● Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, disruptive behaviour disorders, impulse-control disorders, and conduct disorders;

● Experience working with children and youth presenting with challenging behaviours;

● Strong organizational, time management, and case management skills, with the ability to balance competing demands and meet deadlines;

● Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment;

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications, electronic documentation systems, and basic internet navigation;

● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, supervisors, caregivers, and community partners;

● Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound clinical judgment;

● The individual is required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check dated within the past two years, that is free of any findings or concerns;

● Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel throughout Northern Ontario is required.

Pay: $42.71-$50.25 per hour
