Originally established as a restaurant and tea garden on August 4th 1914, we have grown into a premier event venue, entertainment destination, and dining establishment. Salary Range:

$100,000 - $120,000 CAD

The salary range provided is intended as a guideline. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and overall suitability for the role.

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial performance, and day-to-day operations of the heritage hospitality property, ensuring operational excellence, exceptional guest experiences, regulatory compliance, and the preservation of the property's historic character.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations Management: Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all departments, including Restaurant Operations, Private Dining, Banquet & Events, Sales & Marketing, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Accounting, ensuring efficient, collaborative, and customer-focused operations.
Financial Management: Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; monitor financial performance, revenue, expenses, labour costs, and profitability; oversee accounting functions, internal controls, purchasing, and contract management.
Food & Beverage Operations: Oversee restaurant, private dining, banquet, and catering operations to ensure exceptional food quality, service standards, guest satisfaction, and revenue growth.
Sales, Marketing & Business Development: Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase restaurant traffic, banquet bookings, private events, and community partnerships while strengthening the property's brand and market presence.
Property Management: Oversee housekeeping, maintenance, grounds, and heritage preservation to ensure the property remains safe, clean, well-maintained, and compliant with applicable heritage conservation requirements.
Human Resources & Team Development: Support recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and labour relations while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.
Guest Experience & Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain high standards of hospitality, timely respond to guest concerns, monitor service quality, and implement continuous improvements to enhance the overall guest experience.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, including employment standards, occupational health and safety, accessibility, food safety, liquor licensing, fire safety, privacy, and other regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder & Community Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with guests, clients, suppliers, tourism organizations, government agencies, community partners, and other stakeholders while representing the organization professionally.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, financial performance, sustainability, and long-term growth while supporting the preservation and success of the heritage property.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

Undergraduate or Graduate Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Experience

Minimum 7–10 years of progressive hospitality management experience.
Minimum 2 years working as a general manager or in an executive leadership role.
Experience overseeing multiple hospitality departments.

· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Good to have experience in managing heritage or historic properties is considered an asset.
