About the FORT
The FORT is a registered charity empowering youth to make positive life choices by providing free recreational programs, mentorship, emergency support, and access to mental health resources through a range of focused and well-established after-school programs. Our centres in Grimsby and Smithville welcome over 10,000 youth visits annually and serve as essential community hubs.
Position Overview
The Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening and supporting the FORT’s visibility, long-term sustainability, community impact, and internal operations. This position blends marketing, fundraising, donor relations, event coordination, and community outreach while also assisting with day-to-day operations of the youth centres. The ideal candidate is outgoing, creative, organized, and passionate about championing the needs of youth to donors and community partners. In this role, you will contribute to the FORT’s mission of supporting youth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing & Communications
· Develop online and print materials including flyers, brochures, social media content, and promotional campaigns.
· Create presentations for community groups and partners.
· Produce visual content (graphics, photos, short videos) using Adobe Creative Cloud/Canva or similar tools.
· Support branding and public relations initiatives to raise awareness of FORT programs and services.
2. Community Outreach & Relationship Building
· Build and maintain relationships with local schools, service groups, churches, businesses, and community partners.
· Represent the FORT at community events to increase visibility, recruit volunteers, and strengthen partnerships.
· Monitor youth-related trends and community needs to inform programming and outreach strategies.
3. Fundraising & Event Support
· Assist in planning and implementing fundraising events across FORT communities.
· Maintain relationships with donors at both corporate and individual levels.
· Assist with grant applications, reporting, and research into new funding opportunities.
4. Organizational & Program Support
· Provide general administrative support including communications, record keeping, banking support, and general office tasks.
· Assist program staff with daily operations at both centres.
· Support other organizational functions as needed within a small, collaborative youth-focused team environment.
Skills & Qualifications
· Demonstrated experience or education in marketing, communications, fundraising, community development, or related fields.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. A “people person”.
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva is a strong asset.
· Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
· Valid Driver’s Licence, and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Vulnerable Sector Check (current or within the last two years).
· College or University degree in a related field including business, social services, or other related programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay: From $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 35.0 per week
