PURPOSE OF POSITION
The position of CNC Production Machinist is responsible for day to day production requirements, minor program adjustments, machine tool maintenance and general area organization as required.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The positions nature requires daily production runs on all of our CNC Roll forming lathes. Daily tool PM’s, disassembly of chucks, rollers and other tools for setup or change over to other product part numbers. The candidate for this roll is required to complete the setup including the “First-Off Part" where CNC programming knowledge, is required. Work flow organization, area management and 5S are all parts of the nature and scope of this roll. May be required to assist in other areas as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma. CNC programming certification required. Certified Machinist Certificate (429a) would be an asset.
Knowledge and Skills: The CNC Production Machinist must have good knowledge of and be able to use standard tools and machining equipment. These include: Drill presses, Milling machines, lathes, overhead cranes, band saws, micrometers, Vernier’s, Height gauges. The incumbent must be able to part prints and run CNC machines.
Communication Skills: The incumbent must have good oral and written communication skills for normal business communication.
Nature and Length of Experience: At least five (5) years of experience beyond certification in a similar industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Programs and runs CNC machines for production parts accurately and efficiently.
- Checks finished items to ensure specifications are met using micrometers, Vernier’s and height gauges.
- Disassemble service and reassemble all CNC machine tools on a weekly basis.
- Directs less responsible operators. Checks their own work as well as the work of others to ensure the quality required is meet.
- Follows and performs to the instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual (s) applicable to the department.
- Follows and performs to the processes and instructions as outlined in the Process House applicable to the department.
- Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.
- Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
- Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Director.
- Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Team Lead, Supervisor and Director.
