Our full-service grocery store includes a scratch bakery, butcher shop, deli, commercial kitchen, Gourmet to Go Cafe, full kitchen, garden centre and giftware area. Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated and dependable Part-Time Butcher Shop Associate to support our butcher shop operations during weekday evening closing shifts, including weekends. This role is part of a high-quality, specialty grocery environment where customers value premium meats, customer service, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about food, takes pride in cleanliness and presentation, and thrives in a customer-facing role.

Job Structure

This is a part-time hourly position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%.

Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales:

Greet and assist customers with meat selections, cooking suggestions, and product information.
Ensure a high standard of service and product knowledge consistent with a specialty store experience.

Product Handling & Merchandising:

Weigh, wrap, label, and stock meat and specialty butcher items in the display cases.
Maintain proper rotation and freshness of all products.
Restock and face displays to keep the case and cooler visually appealing until close.

Closing Duties:

Clean and sanitize counters, cutting surfaces, equipment, and display cases.
Break down and secure the butcher station according to store procedures.
Prepare the department for the next day’s opening (e.g., restocking supplies, logging inventory).

Food Safety & Compliance:

Follow all food safety guidelines, including safe handling of raw meat and cleaning chemicals.
Ensure accurate labeling, including allergens, weights, and expiration dates.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a butcher shop, deli, meat department, or specialty grocery store considered an asset.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and responsibly during closing shifts.
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Regular exposure to cold temperatures and raw meat products.
