Location: Anishnabe Long-Term Care Centre

Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Hours: Position will commence at 22.5 hours
per week (3 days/week) and transition to 35 hours per week upon the
commencement of a maternity leave.
Position Type: 24-Month Fixed-Term Contract

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative,
and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our team. This is a unique
opportunity to join our organization in a role that will initially be scheduled
for 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week) and will transition to 35 hours per
week as a 24-month maternity leave replacement. The successful candidate will
play a vital role in enriching the lives of our residents by planning and
delivering engaging recreational, social, cultural, spiritual, and therapeutic
activities that foster connection, purpose, and well-being.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Administration and Finance
Manager, the Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing,
implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive recreation and leisure program
that meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, cultural, and
spiritual needs of our residents.

Working collaboratively with nursing,
leadership, families, volunteers, and community partners, the successful
candidate will create meaningful opportunities for residents to remain active,
engaged, and connected while promoting a vibrant and welcoming home environment.

Key Responsibilities
Recreation Programming
Develop, organize, coordinate, and evaluate
a diverse calendar of recreational, cultural, educational, and social
activities.
Design programs that promote residents'
physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social well-being.
Adapt activities to accommodate varying
levels of physical and cognitive ability.
Encourage resident participation while
promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion.
Resident Assessment & Care Planning
Participate in resident assessments and
interdisciplinary care conferences.
Develop individualized recreation plans
based on resident interests, abilities, and goals.
Monitor resident participation and modify
programming as required.
Communicate observations regarding
residents' well-being to the interdisciplinary care team.
Community Engagement
Foster positive relationships with
residents, families, volunteers, community organizations, and external partners.
Coordinate outings, special events,
entertainment, and transportation.
Promote recreational programming through
regular communication with residents and families.
Volunteer & Special Event Coordination
Recruit, orient, schedule, and support
volunteers.
Coordinate volunteer appreciation
initiatives.
Organize seasonal celebrations, cultural
events, Indigenous programming, and special community activities.
Ensure all volunteers complete the required
screening and orientation process.
Program Administration
Maintain accurate resident activity records
and departmental documentation.
Assist with departmental budgeting and
inventory of activity supplies.
Identify grant opportunities and community
partnerships that support recreational programming.
Participate in quality improvement
initiatives and accreditation activities.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Social
Services Worker, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field is
preferred.
Recreation and Leisure Certificate is
considered an asset.
Previous experience planning recreation or
leisure programs, preferably in long-term care, retirement living, healthcare,
or community services.
Knowledge of seniors' programming and
dementia-friendly activities is considered an asset.
Understanding and appreciation of Indigenous
culture, traditions, and community values.
Excellent communication skills in both
English and French.
Strong organizational and event-planning
abilities.
Excellent interpersonal and
relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and
collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
Basic computer skills.
Current Food Handler Certificate is
considered an asset.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR
certification is considered an asset.
Personal Support Worker certification is
considered an asset.
Working Conditions
Position begins at 22.5 hours per week (3
days/week) and transitions to 35 hours per week for the duration of the
maternity leave.
Some evening and weekend work is required to
support resident programming and special events.
Occasional lifting or assisting residents
during activities.
Outdoor work and travel may be required for
community outings.
Frequent interaction with residents,
families, volunteers, staff, and community organizations.
Fast-paced environment requiring
flexibility, creativity, and strong organizational skills.
