Role Scope
We are seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support People & Culture for our Canadian operations. This is a stand-alone HR role, responsible for delivering both business partnership and day-to-day HR execution, with support from Centers of Excellence and HR leadership in the U.S. This role reports directly to the VP of People & Culture with a dotted line the General Manager of Canada.
As the HR Business Partner, you will serve as the primary HR contact for site and functional leaders, helping to align people practices with business needs while ensuring strong execution across the employee lifecycle. You will play a key role in employee relations, compliance, and HR operations locally, while leveraging global processes, tools, and expertise.
This role requires a balance of independence, judgment, and hands-on execution, with a strong focus on compliance, consistency, and employee experience.
What You'll Do
HR Partnership & Support

Partner with local leaders to support day-to-day people needs, including performance management, employee relations, and team effectiveness

Lead and drive change management initiatives across the Canadian workforce

Provide guidance and coaching to managers on people practices and decision-making

Help translate business needs into practical HR solutions
Employee Relations & Compliance

Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, performance issues, and conflict resolution

Ensure consistent and compliant application of company policies and employment law (Ontario and Nova Scotia)

Partner with U.S. HR and legal on complex or escalated matters
Administrative Compliance & HR Operations

Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready employee records and documentation within SuccessFactors

Administer employment documentation, including employment agreements, policy acknowledgments, and regulatory requirements

Support compliance reporting, audits, and required filings

Ensure adherence to HR policies, procedures, and documentation standards
Employee Lifecycle & Experience

Manage full-cycle recruiting and temp agency relationships as needed; lead HR project rollouts including pulse surveys, values launches, and workforce planning

Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth and compliant employee experience

Serve as a trusted resource for employees, providing guidance with professionalism and empathy

Facilitate on-site engagement activities that support culture and connection
Talent & Performance Support

Support execution of performance management and talent processes

Partner with leaders to address development needs and improve team effectiveness

Help identify trends and provide input on engagement and retention opportunities
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as the local HR point of contact, coordinating with U.S.-based HR teams and shared services

Support HR initiatives and projects that improve processes and employee experience

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across People & Cultur

What We're Looking For You might be the right fit if you:

Have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

5 + years in HR Business Partnering, ideally in a stand-alone or autonomous role
- Ability to manage multi provincial HR policies and employment law (Ontario and Nova Scotia to start)

Possess strong knowledge of Ontario and Nova Scotia employment law and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to operate independently while influencing leaders and driving outcomes
- Have strong experience in employee relations, including investigations and performance management
- Bring experience working with remote HR teams, COEs, or shared services models
- Are comfortable balancing strategic work with hands-on execution
- Are confident using HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now and SAP SuccessFactors preferred) and leveraging data for insights
- French/bilingual a plus

Bring strong judgment, accountability, and decision-making capability
- Payroll experience is an asset
Location & Work Schedule This role will be based at our Dartmouth, Nove Scotia site and requires being onsite 5 days per week. Ability to travel to Stoney Creek, ON (Toronto) quarterly or as needed for business needs.
