At an exciting time to join the Score Group team based remotely in Halifax Nova Scotia or Ottawa, Ontario. We are seeking a proactive Business Development Specialist to support activities. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, Americas, the BD Specialist for Atlantic Canada will serve as a dedicated Halifax- or Ottawa-based representative responsible for expanding and strengthening our presence within the marine and defense sectors.

Given the geographic distribution of the Marine Division’s client base and the significant growth potential within Atlantic Canada, this role is critical to executing a targeted business development strategy.
Expectations for the role include undertaking regular on-site visits across the defense sector, engaging not only with our existing client portfolio but also with organizations that interface with those clients. This broader engagement will help identify points of synergy and collaboration, allowing us to position ourselves earlier in the project lifecycle and to capture opportunities that align with future scopes of work.

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a strong Marine Division presence in Halifax and the broader Atlantic region.
- Conduct regular on-site client visits across the defence and marine sectors.
- Increase revenue through strategic account development and new business acquisition.
- Position the company earlier in project lifecycles to maximize opportunity capture.
- Strengthen relationships not only with existing clients, but also with organizations interfacing within their supply chains.
- Identify and analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to develop strategic plans aligned with Marine Division growth objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring elevated levels of customer satisfaction and retention, meanwhile fostering relationships with developing customers to build them into top tier clients.
- Identify potential clients, generate leads, and convert them into sales opportunities.
- Educate the customer on implementing processes and procedures that would benefit both Score Group and the customer, such as preventative maintenance schedules, site surveys including Midas surveys, and identifying opportunities for efficiencies.
- Prepare and present proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals as needed in collaboration with the sales teams, site services and repairs departments as needed.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of valve products and services, providing technical support and training to customers.
- Work with the external teams to provide accurate order input forecasting and budgeting data.
- Submit annual overhead budgets for the Sales, Contracts team including site based Focal Points.
- Work closely with the marketing, engineering, sales, and service teams to align efforts and achieve company objectives.
- Work with the Sales Team and all our major vendors to develop pricing agreements on specific opportunities or blanket agreements.
- Provide regular sales commentary, market feedback, and strategic recommendations to senior management during attendance of the weekly meeting.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions.
- Achieve customer and business goals & objectives
- Any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience of industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience within the marine, defense, industrial, or technical services sectors strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue growth targets.
- Ability to travel between 30% and 50% to meet customer needs.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Working Conditions
