We are seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook who will also assist with food preparation (prep cooking) to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensure high standards of food quality and presentation, and support the team with both cooking and preparation tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items during service according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Assist with daily prep tasks, including chopping, marinating, portioning, and assembling ingredients for upcoming services.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including stations, tools, and storage areas.
- Ensure food is properly stored, labeled, and rotated following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient and timely service during busy periods.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels; report shortages or product needs to the chef or kitchen manager.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Support other kitchen tasks as needed to ensure smooth operation.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience as a line cook or prep cook in a restaurant or hotel kitchen.
- Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Culinary training or certification (an asset but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in a kitchen environment for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs
