Job purpose

The main responsibilities of this position are to develop and qualify/validate bioanalytical and analytical procedures, test methods and provide analytical expertise required for the product development. Key duties include development and validation of new bioanalytical and analytical methods, preparation of reports, specifications and other documents for regulatory or legal submissions, with the emphasis on analysis of bioanalytical samples from in vitro bioequivalence screenings. Testing of other materials

e.g. R&D/ Reference Products in accordance with GMP/GLP regulations may be required as needed. Work is completed with little supervision/guidance in a timely manner.

Duties and responsibilities

Perform tissue separation, tape stripping, dermatoming of human skin, and In Vitro Permeation Testing (IVPT) for topical and ophthalmic formulations including creams, emulsions, lotions, serums, ointments, and solutions.
Develop, validate, and document analytical and bioanalytical methods with minimal supervision.
Operate and maintain HPLC, LC-MS/MS, and related analytical instrumentation (Waters and Agilent platforms preferred).
Process and review analytical data using Empower and/or OpenLab software.
Prepare method development, validation, investigative, and scientific reports, ensuring accurate documentation of all laboratory activities.
Perform bioanalytical sample preparation using manual techniques and/or automated liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton).
Provide technical troubleshooting and investigative support for analytical and bioanalytical projects.
Support product development and regulatory submissions through data generation, investigations, and responses to regulatory deficiencies.
Evaluate third-party data, scientific literature, patents, and technical reports to support development activities.
Perform impurity isolation, identification, and characterization as required.
Prepare product and packaging material specifications and technical documentation.

Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)

Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

Qualifications

Ph.D. or M. Sc. in Chemistry or in a pharmaceutical–related field with minimum two years of work experience in GMP/GLP environment, specifically in bioanalytical method development and validation.
LCMSMS bioanalytical method development experience of 2-6 years required.
Exposure to in vitro bioanalytical testing such as IVRT and IVPT is highly preferred
Excellent logical skills required
LCMS sample preparation strategies to minimize matrix ionization suppression; instrumentation trouble shooting and preventative maintenance such as MS cone cleaning.
Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity.
Team-oriented approach with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to collective goals
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex analytical and bioanalytical challenges.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present scientific data and conclusions to technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across Analytical Development, Formulation Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality teams.

Working conditions

Generally, fairly pleasant surroundings. Occasional exposure to higher than normal noise levels Frequent, daily exposure to various chemicals used in the testing of raw materials, components and finished products. Occasional exposure to unpleasant odors resulting from testing procedures. Fairly level temperatures.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $64,000 to $80,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; RRSP savings plan; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
