The Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences, is seeking two (2) full-time academic physicians to join the Division of Pediatric Neonatology and provide clinical care and academic scholarship at McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Neonatal Intensive Care is an important service within McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH). The Neonatal wards include a 56-bed NICU as one of the largest level III units in the country as well as a 16-bed complex care level II unit, with a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive patient care. There are more than 1300 newborn admissions per year including more than 200 very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. The full spectrum of care provided includes extremely preterm infants as low as 22 weeks’ GA, as well as congenital malformations and non-cardiac post-surgical care. We also provide one of the provincial neonatal transport services. We combine a regionalized perinatal service and internationally recognized strength in research and medical education, the latter including a Royal-College credentialed training program in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Position Requirements:
This is a full-time academic appointment, and the salary will align with the Department of Pediatrics’ practice plans. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:
- Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Neonatology and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
- The candidate should show passion and dedication to the highly acute level III service including care for extremely low birth weight infants at the limits of viability, post-surgical care for term infants, neonatal transport service as well as complex care.
- Academic training, interest and demonstrated scholarship in the following areas will be considered an asset:
- Neonatal hemodynamics and targeted neonatal echocardiography (TNE)
- Quality improvement and patient-safety
