Reporting to the Senior Finance Director, the Project Finance Manager will be responsible for financial administration including reporting, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day transactions to ensure financial objectives are met and accounting procedures are carried out on an assigned Major Project.
The Hamilton LRT Alliance has been selected by Metrolinx as the development partner for the Hamilton LRT – Package 1: Civil & Utilities. Under the alliance model, Aecon provides construction capability and resources as part of an integrated team, working collaboratively with all alliance participants to progress design, cost, and construction schedules during the project’s development phase.

What You’ll Do Here:
Oversight of finance activities within a business unit or functional area, this could include financial reporting, budgeting, taxation.
Coordinate the close off process and prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and related schedules & notes.
Consolidation of joint arrangements for financial statement preparation.
Work effectively with, influence and support projects teams, joint arrangements & JV Partners.
Implement & manage internal control procedures.
Coordinate & manage internal and external audits.
Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in concert with the respective business partners.
Investigate / analyze departmental variances from budgets/forecast on a monthly/quarterly basis – working closely with business partners.
Involved in supporting accounting research to provide recommendations, ensuring the Company complies with all areas of IFRS and in accordance with established Aecon policies and procedures.
Enhance the applicable finance processes and support process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals and improve efficiency and profitability.
Mentor and develop finance team.
Build a strong network across various teams to handle a wide range of analytical and operational issues.
Support preparation of financial presentations & analyses for the leadership team.
Support preparation of ad-hoc financial analyses (including “what-if” scenario analysis) as required to support business partners.
What You Bring to the Team:
5 years of professional finance experience, preferably in the Construction industry.
Degree in Accounting or Business Management required.
Canadian accounting designation – CPA required.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and percentage of completion accounting.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a leadership capacity.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks under pressure.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
Strong knowledge of financial management is required.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment within a small team.
Security Clearance and Background Checks Required.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
