Transport Sales & Service is a well-established, federally regulated transportation company specializing in flatbed, specialized freight, and bulk commodity transportation throughout Ontario and the United States. We are seeking an experienced transportation professional to join our Operations Team in a key leadership position.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong dispatch and planning experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. Reporting directly to the Manager of Operations, you will play a critical role in the daily coordination of our fleet while providing leadership and direction to the Operations Department. In the absence of the Manager of Operations, you will assume responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily dispatch of company drivers and Owner Operators.
- Plan efficient freight movements while maximizing equipment utilization and profitability.
- Monitor driver Hours of Service and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, Owner Operators, and internal departments.
- Resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining exceptional customer service.
- Assist with load planning, scheduling, and freight optimization.
- Support safety initiatives and company policies.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to dispatch personnel.
- Assume operational leadership responsibilities during the absence of the Manager of Operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trucking operations or dispatch.
- Demonstrated experience in freight planning and equipment utilization.
- Strong understanding of Hours of Service regulations.
- Knowledge of cross-border transportation is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership ability with experience mentoring or supervising employees.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with transportation management software and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of flatbed transportation is a significant asset.
