Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our Customer Communications Office is seeking a Communications Coordinator to develop and coordinate accurate and effective communications, which enhance relations with Metrolinx’s stakeholders, such as customers, the general public, media and the communities we serve.
What will I be doing?
- Developing and executing integrated communications strategies to support and enhance Metrolinx’s corporate objectives and image.
- Developing, writing, and producing messaging for customer communications channels, including print, digital, and online material.
- Developing, coordinating and executing communication campaigns that enhance Metrolinx’s relationship with customers, the communities Metrolinx serve, and the media.
- Supporting external awareness of the corporation and its services.
- Identify opportunities for Metrolinx communications to generate increased ridership and revenue, enhance corporate identity, and improve customer service.
- Coordinates and oversees, from conception to completion, production of communications plans that may include a variety of digital and print material, such as external newsletters, bulletins, handouts, and other publications. This includes researching, analysing and interpreting information, writing, editing, and coordinating projects from conceptual design to final product to ensure that all products meet Metrolinx’s corporate communications objectives.
- Develops design and organizational framework of website. Liaises with other departments to ensure that web content is accurate and consistent with integrated communications strategy.
Provides and maintains GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO website content, using web-authoring software for the publishing of up-to-date information

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Excellent knowledge of communications principles and practices normally attained through completion of a four-year post-secondary program in communications or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience, including knowledge of, or demonstrated skills in:
- Creative writing and editing for communications and marketing
- Producing print and online material from concept to completion
- Communication tools, including word-processing, communications plan authoring, including key messages, web-authoring, and social media
- Research, organization and planning, and project management
- The principles of communications, media relations, marketing, and public relations
- Development, coordination, and execution of communications campaigns
Interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, the public, and other stakeholders
