Accountant / Bookkeeper

Crossroads Staffing – Orillia, ON Salary: $56,000 per year ( the wage is negotiable depending on experience) + additional compensation for travel Job Type: Permanent · Full Time Work Location: In person

About the Role

Crossroads Staffing is recruiting an experienced and detail oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper on behalf of our client, a well established residential property management company. The successful candidate will manage day to day financial operations, maintain accurate records, and support financial reporting across multiple residential properties.

This role requires strong hands on experience with Simply/Sage Accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and improving an existing accounting system, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring all financial information is properly recorded and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, and financial statements
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year end financial reports
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Review, maintain, and organize the existing Sage accounting system
Identify, troubleshoot, and correct accounting errors or inconsistencies
Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and categorized
Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records
Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP and CRA requirements
Liaise with management, vendors, and external accountants
Assist with tax preparation and audit support
Provide timely and accurate financial information to management

Requirements

Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in an Ontario office setting (references required)
Minimum 2 years of hands on Simply/Sage Accounting experience
Strong proficiency in Sage; must be able to work independently within the software
Experience reviewing, troubleshooting, and organizing existing accounting records and Sage files
Minimum 2 years of Microsoft Excel experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and time management abilities
Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and CRA compliance
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Must be able to work on site in Orillia, Ontario

Experience Requirements

Bookkeeping: 2 years (required)
Simply/Sage Accounting: 2 years (required)
Microsoft Excel: 2 years (required)
Microsoft Office: 1 year (required)

Travel & Training Requirement

This position includes mandatory training in North York, Ontario, potentially for approximately one month.

Candidates must be willing and able to commute to North York for the training period.
Additional compensation for travel will be provided. This requirement is essential and must be confirmed by all applicants.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will take ownership of the company’s day to day accounting and bookkeeping functions and must be confident working independently within the existing Sage system. Strong practical knowledge of Sage is essential.
