The Job The Staff Supported Home Program Staff is responsible for day-to-day care and safety of the children/youth placed in a staff model home. They are responsible to create supportive relationships and understand and meet the needs of each child/youth placed in a staff model home while ensuring that all Ministry regulations and agency policies are followed. Staff Supported Home Program Staff work shifts in the home and are responsible for the care of children/youth 24/7. They work collaboratively with the Child Protection Worker/Child Youth Service Worker/Mobile Behaviour Treatment Team and all clinical supports available to the child/youth. This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 5319.

Le poste Le personnel du programme d’aide à domicile devra s’occuper de la prise en charge quotidienne et de la sécurité des enfants et des jeunes placés dans un foyer d'accueil avec encadrement. Il a pour mission d'établir des relations de soutien, de comprendre et de répondre aux besoins de chaque enfant ou jeune placé dans un foyer d'accueil avec encadrement, tout en veillant au respect de l'ensemble des règlements du ministère et des politiques de l'organisme. Le personnel du programme de foyers d'accueil avec encadrement travaille par roulement au sein du foyer et est chargé de la prise en charge des enfants et des jeunes 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours sur 7. Il travaille en collaboration avec l’un des intervenants en protection de l'enfance / Intervenant auprès des enfants et des jeunes / Équipe mobile de prise en charge comportementale, et tous les soutiens cliniques mis à la disposition de l'enfant ou du jeune. Il s'agit d'un poste syndiqué auprès de la section locale 5319 du CUPE.

Qualifications

Must have a community college diploma or University degree in Child and Youth Care, Child and Youth Worker or related relevant discipline.
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR level C.
Crisis training (CPI Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention, Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour - UMAB).
Minimum of 2-3 years experience supporting children and youth with complex mental health and/or developmental diagnoses within a residential setting or similar.
Previous knowledge and experience implementing principles of ABA – Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset.
Sound knowledge of available community resources.
Thorough understanding of and ability to practice a strength based, anti-oppressive and identity-affirming approach.
Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external resources and strong teamwork skills.
Sound knowledge on de-escalation and problem solving with children/youth in crisis.
Broad Spectrum Police Record Check required.
Able to work flexible hours which may include weekends, evenings and overnight.
Safe and reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and minimum vehicle insurance as outlined by agency policies and procedures.
For designated bilingual positions, the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both French and English is required; competency will be tested.

Compétences

Être titulaire d'un diplôme d'études collégiales ou d'un diplôme universitaire en soins aux enfants et aux jeunes, en intervention auprès des enfants et des jeunes ou dans une discipline connexe pertinente.
Certificat valide de secourisme général et de RCR niveau C
Formation en gestion de crise (CPI - Intervention non violente pour la prévention des crises, Compréhension et gestion des comportements agressifs - UMAB).
Au moins 2 à 3 ans d’expérience dans l’accompagnement d’enfants et de jeunes présentant des troubles complexes de santé mentale et/ou des troubles du développement, dans un cadre résidentiel ou similaire.
Une connaissance et une expérience préalables de la mise en œuvre des principes de l’ABA constituent un atout.

• Compétences en matière de collecte de données.

• Bonne connaissance des ressources communautaires disponibles.

Compréhension approfondie et capacité à mettre en pratique une approche axée sur les forces, anti-oppressive et affirmant l’identité.
Bonnes compétences interpersonnelles, notamment la capacité à travailler en coopération et en collaboration avec des ressources internes et externes, ainsi que de solides compétences en matière de travail d’équipe.
Bonne connaissance des techniques de désescalade et de résolution de problèmes avec des enfants/jeunes en situation de crise.

• Vérification du casier judiciaire à large spectre requise

• Capacité à travailler selon des horaires flexibles pouvant inclure les week-ends, les soirées et la nuit.

Possession d’un véhicule sûr et fiable, et d’un permis de conduire valide et assurance automobile minimale conformément aux politiques et procédures de l’agence.
Pour les postes désignés comme bilingues, la capacité à communiquer oralement et par écrit en français et en anglais est requise ; les compétences seront évaluées.

Compensation The salary range is $29.33 - $36.67/hour commensurate with experience, with a generous benefits package, vacation and leave provisions as per our Collective Agreement.
