Job Summary

The Team
The Kamloops office is an established, collaborative team of approximately 45 staff across several specialized areas, including Child Protection, Resource, Out of Care, and CPDM teams. Together, these teams work to support children, youth, and families and promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes. Child Protection workers respond to concerns of abuse, neglect, and harm, assess safety, and work with families to reduce risk. The Resource Team recruits, assesses, trains, and supports foster and extended family caregivers, while the Out of Care Team works with families to address concerns and help children remain safely at home whenever possible. CPDM staff support children and youth with complex needs by coordinating services and advocating for their well-being. The work is meaningful and fast-paced, with staff working collaboratively across teams and with community partners to strengthen families, provide safe and nurturing placements, and build safer communities.

The Role
This administrative role provides essential program, clerical, and operational support to professional staff working with children, youth, and families. Responsibilities include maintaining confidential client files and records, entering and retrieving information in ministry databases, preparing correspondence and reports, scheduling meetings and appointments, processing referrals and paperwork, providing reception services, and coordinating information between social workers, team leaders, caregivers, service providers, and community partners. While much of the work happens behind the scenes, it has a direct impact on timely decision-making, service delivery, and access to resources for vulnerable children and families. This is an opportunity for an organized, compassionate, and collaborative administrative professional to contribute to meaningful public service, support frontline staff, and help ensure children and families receive the services and support they need.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 6 months related experience; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include

Experience working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases. (For example: Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel, Outlook) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email and video teleconferencing; and case management or other database applications.
Experience providing quality customer or client service, carrying out duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner.
Experience working independently and as a team member with a multi-disciplinary environment and with other professional staff, client, and service providers.

Preferences may be given to applicants with:

Administrative experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting.
Experience using MCFD applications: Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer applications.
