Position Title: Behaviour Intervener / Child Care Worker

Position Type: Part-time Permanent (10 - 15 hours per week)

Location: Kamloops, BC

Work Setting: In Person

Hours: Monday–Friday

Posting Summary

As a Behaviour Intervener / Child Care Worker, you play an essential role in creating positive change for children and youth with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioural challenges, and emotional disorders. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will implement individualized therapeutic programs that help clients develop skills, achieve meaningful goals, and improve their quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement individualized one-to-one therapeutic programs developed by Behaviour Consultants, Counsellors, and other Lead Professionals.
Provide direct support to children and youth in client homes, community settings, and other approved environments.
Build positive, therapeutic relationships while promoting skill development, independence, and positive behaviour.
Collect accurate behavioural data and complete detailed session notes following each shift.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including Behaviour Consultants, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Program Assistants.
Participate in ongoing communication with supervisors and clinical team members regarding client progress.
Support clients in achieving individualized treatment goals through consistent implementation of behaviour intervention strategies.
Maintain accurate documentation using digital systems in a paperless work environment.
Follow organizational policies, treatment plans, and safety procedures at all times.
Utilize de-escalation techniques and maintain a safe environment while supporting clients who maydisplay challenging behaviours.
Represent the organization professionally within the community.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum six (6) months of experience supporting children or youth with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioural challenges, or other diverse support needs.
Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred, including:
Applied Behaviour Analysis
Disability Studies
Child and Youth Care
Special Education Assistant
Early Childhood Education
Psychology
Social Work
Community Support Worker
Or another related discipline.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and documentation skills.
Basic computer skills with the ability to complete electronic documentation.
Daily internet access.
Willingness to learn, grow professionally, and participate in ongoing training.
Ability to establish healthy boundaries with compassion and consistency.
Dependable, reliable, and committed to providing consistent support.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
Reliable vehicle with the ability to travel throughout the region.
Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
MANDT, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, or similar behavioural safety training is considered an asset.
Successful Criminal Record Check.
Working Conditions
Work is completed primarily in client homes and community settings throughout Northern BC andPrince George.
Staff may be required to complete documentation remotely using electronic systems.
Flexibility to support clients in a variety of community environments.
Ability to work with clients who may exhibit challenging behaviours while following established safety protocols and de-escalation strategies.
Commitment to maintaining personal wellness and participating in a supportive team environment.
