Full job description

Sales Associate – Play It Again Sports

As a Sales Associate at Play It Again Sports, you play a key role in creating an outstanding customer experience. You'll help customers buy, sell, and trade quality new and used sporting equipment while promoting an active lifestyle and supporting our commitment to sustainability. By giving sports gear a second life, you'll help reduce waste, keep equipment out of landfills, and make sports more affordable and accessible for everyone.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Sales

Welcome and assist customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner.
Help customers find the right equipment and apparel to meet their needs.
Process purchases, trade-ins, and sales accurately using the point-of-sale system.
Educate customers on the benefits of buying, selling, and trading used sporting goods.
Promote store promotions, services, and loyalty programs.
Resolve customer concerns promptly or refer them to a manager when appropriate.

Buying & Inventory

Evaluate and purchase quality used sporting equipment in accordance with store buying guidelines.
Accurately price merchandise based on condition, demand, and market value.
Prepare merchandise for display by cleaning, tagging, and organizing products.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and maintain accurate inventory.
Assist with receiving shipments and processing new inventory.

Store Operations

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor.
Assist with merchandising and creating attractive product displays.
Perform opening and closing procedures
Follow company policies, safety procedures, and loss prevention practices.
Assist with basic ski, snowboard and skate servicing

Teamwork

Work collaboratively with coworkers to achieve sales and customer service goals.
Participate in ongoing product and customer service training.
Support other areas of the store as needed during busy periods.
Contribute to a positive, energetic, and team-oriented workplace.

Qualifications

Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset but not required.
Passion for sports, outdoor recreation, or fitness.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Basic computer and cash handling skills.
Knowledge of sporting equipment is an asset but training will be provided.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Frequent bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and moving merchandise.
Comfortable handling a variety of sporting equipment, including bicycles, hockey gear, skis, snowboards, fitness equipment, and other oversized items.

Work Schedule

Part-time and full-time opportunities available.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Additional hours may be available during seasonal peaks.

Accurately processes purchases, trade-ins, and inventory.
