We are currently recruiting individuals who possess the skill, attitude, and passion to join a growing team in Kamloops, BC as a Data Center Technician.
The position requires an individual who embraces CNI’s culture of maintaining and providing our clients a high level of quality, service and safety standards while maintaining client targets.
As a Data Center Technician, your responsibilities will include supporting our clients Data Center infrastructure along with network cabling, power & space management including physical installation / removals of network and server hardware within a data center for hosted customers and internal business systems.
Potential candidates should possess most of the following attributes.
- Ensure execution of best practices and standards are adhered to by vendors and construction related employees that are working within the data center.
- When required, oversee and/or complete moves, adds and changes for IT infrastructure and associated devices. (IT facilities and infrastructure items include and are not limited to power and power distribution within IT controlled areas, all active and passive cabling, cabling components and distribution, equipment racks and equipment positioning
- Ensure work is documented and when completed "As built" documentation is forwarded to be filed for future reference
- Coordinate with sub-trades as required.
Other duties and responsibilities:
- This roll will be an afternoon evening shift with the occasional adjustment when necessary
- Knowledge of all cable types including fiber, and Ethernet and familiar with brand names
- Coordinate and participate in structured cabling projects as required.
- Experience in design of building and campus structured cabling networks, including site surveys
- Experience in data center design would be a good asset
- Assists co-workers with installation and routine maintenance of structured cabling systems

Required Experience:
- Candidates possess at least a college diploma (preferred)
- 3-5 years technical/operations experience in a large data center (preferred)
