We play a key role in building and enhancing infrastructure across Canada, the U.S., and an expanding international footprint, improving everyday life through the roads, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems that connect communities. With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large-scale site development.
The project is a landmark heavy civil infrastructure project in Ontario's Kawartha Lakes and Barrie regions. As a key part of the Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Program, the project includes significant on-site and off-site material movement activities, extensive earthworks, deep and shallow foundation construction, structural concrete works, and the delivery of multiple buildings and supporting infrastructure.
As part of this project, Aecon's Civil team is advancing nation-building infrastructure through a strategic partnership with Pomerleau and Stantec. Delivered through a collaborative Integrated Project Delivery model, an Aecon-led joint venture is responsible for project delivery.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Foreperson is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily field operations. This role provides leadership and supervision to field crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive work execution while maintaining compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and all Company policies, procedures, and standards.
What You'll Do Here:
Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants in compliance with the project’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew.
Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
Track and report project quality control and resource requirements.
Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews.
Direct employees on productivity issues and monitor work performance, working with the crews to overcome challenges.
Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the crews perform to meet production goals.
Assist with translating drawings, specifications and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites.
Work with the Construction Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements.
Work with the Construction Manager and Leads to periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules and budgets.
Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building.
Ensure work completed meets quality standards and that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress, these include:
Daily quality control inspections, checklists, and related documentation.
Documentation and reporting of policy violations, corrective measures and disciplinary actions.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) inspections, audits and reports.
Completion and tracking of project-specific forms, inspections and compliance requirements.
Review daily field logs with the Project Manager and project leads to ensure the accuracy of labour codes, phase codes, production quantities and other reported project information.
What You Bring to the Team:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry with experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects.
Experience with earthworks, grading, blasting and roadway construction.
Experience working on a large, multi-disciplinary, joint venture team is an asset.
Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Ability to work the project schedule which may include night shifts and weekends.
