Mental wellness support can significantly impact the lives of youth and young adults navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, and barriers to well-being. Through the delivery of evidence-based mindfulness programming, participants gain practical tools for emotional regulation, resilience, and personal growth.
As a Mindfulness Program Facilitator, you will help create supportive spaces where participants feel connected, empowered, and equipped to build positive mental health outcomes. Your work will contribute directly to healthier individuals and stronger communities.
Deliver YMCA mindfulness programs that support positive mental health outcomes for youth and young adults.
- Screen and assess prospective participants through information sessions and intake processes.
- Facilitate Y Mind, Teen Mindfulness, and other YMCA mental wellness program curriculums.
- Create welcoming, inclusive, and psychologically safe group environments.
- Collaborate with co-facilitators to prepare and deliver engaging group sessions.
- Guide participants through mindfulness practices, group discussions, and therapeutic learning activities.
- Attend required program training and professional development opportunities.
- Participate in post-program debrief meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Connect participants with appropriate community resources, agencies, and support services when needed.
- Foster participant engagement, growth, and a sense of belonging throughout the program.
- Identify opportunities to enhance program quality and participant experiences.
- Maintain program documentation and participant confidentiality.
- Ensure the safety of all participants, staff, volunteers, and property by following YMCA policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field such as Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in a mental health or counselling-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is considered an asset.
- Experience leading mindfulness-based practices or wellness programming is considered an asset.
- Experience facilitating group-based programming for youth and young adults is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting neurodiverse individuals with a variety of cognitive, developmental, and behavioural needs is considered an asset.
- Mental Health First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Experience working interculturally with equity-deserving populations is considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

As part of a trusted charitable organization, successful candidates will be required to:
- Provide three professional references (e.g., employer, supervisor, colleague, teacher, coach).
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued within six months of the start date.
- Participate in required YMCA orientation, training, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for program-related travel.
- Attend all mandatory facilitator training and program debrief sessions.
