The General Labourer – Packaging is responsible for supporting winery production operations by executing packaging activities in accordance with established production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role contributes to efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining product integrity and regulatory compliance.
This teammate will be responsible for:
Packaging Department Duties
- Operate and support packaging line equipment, including fillers, labelers, and automated case packers
- Execute production tasks in accordance with work orders and production schedules
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet established specifications
- Prepare packaging lines and equipment for daily operations in a timely manner
- Assist with product transfers, including moving and setting up pumps and hoses
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in accordance with GMP standards
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, HACCP requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets
- Identify and report equipment or quality issues promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Harvest Labour Duties
- Truck receiving and forklift work loading and unloading grape bins from trucks. Washing and stacking grape bins.
- Processing grapes including forklift work dumping grapes into hoppers, preparing ingredients, assisting with pressing and crushing equipment.
- Moving and setting-up equipment such as pumps and hoses.
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment such as presses, destemmers/crushers, pumps, hoses, tanks and tubs.
- Emptying grape skins from tanks.
- Other duties as assigned to help support the harvest period
The skills, knowledge and experience this teammate will bring:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, physically demanding manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Forklift certification or experience considered an asset (training provided if required)
- Mechanical aptitude and basic mathematical skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
- Positive attitude with a sense of urgency
- Adaptability in a dynamic production environment
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights)
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly during peak harvest periods
- Work may be performed in cold, damp environments and at heights
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting hourly rate: $27.01
