At Good Sorts, we put people first. Not just our clients, but the people who show up, get the dirty work done, and make the whole operation run smooth.
We're a commercial cleaning and property services company based in Kelowna, working across the Okanagan, and we're growing quickly. Our goal is pretty simple: create real opportunities for real people and build a company people are genuinely proud to work for. That starts with taking care of our own team. We're looking for someone who can help us do exactly that, from the moment a candidate first hears about Good Sorts to every step of their journey with us.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll have a real hand in shaping how Good Sorts grows. You'll bring great people through the door, make sure they have a strong experience once they're here, help them grow and develop, and step in when things get difficult. You'll be part recruiter, part coach, part culture-builder, and part straight-shooter.
If you genuinely get excited when someone you've hired succeeds, you'll probably like it here.
What You'll Be Doing
- Recruiting new team members at every level, from promoting opportunities and screening candidates to interviewing and making hiring decisions alongside the leadership team
- Building our brand and solidifying Good Sorts as an employer of choice
- Building talent pipelines through relationships with organizations like Kelowna Community Resources, WorkBC, and other community partners
- Supporting immigration processes where appropriate, working with the right external partners to keep things moving
- Leading SmartStart, our onboarding program, so new team members feel welcomed, equipped, and ready to succeed from day one
- Keeping training and development on track, making sure programs are current, accessible, and actually getting completed
- Running check-ins and performance reviews, helping team members understand where they're at and where they can go next
- Having the hard conversations—including performance issues, corrective action, and terminations—when they're necessary
- Keeping an eye on compensation, helping us stay competitive and negotiating benefits as needed
- Recognizing great work, celebrating top performers, and making sure people who live our values get noticed
- Creating opportunities for people to connect, from staff events and social activities to supporting team members who are going through a tough stretch
- Keeping role descriptions and organizational structure current, and helping leadership think through how the team should evolve as we grow
- Keeping us compliant, including BC employment standards, health & safety requirements, employment agreements, and policies around things like harassment, privacy, and motor vehicle operation
- Working with Operations and Accounting on payroll matters, without being responsible for administering payroll or deductions directly
What We're Looking For
We want someone who can actually run the people side of a growing business. You should be:
- Experienced in people & culture, HR, recruitment, or a similar role
- Comfortable with both bringing people in the door and having the tough conversations once they're here
- Genuinely people-first, while still being clear-eyed about what's best for the business
- Confident navigatingBC employment standards and workplace compliance
- Highly organized and self-directed; you can keep a lot of plates spinning without losing track of the important ones
- Warm, honest, and straight-talking; people trust you, and you don't avoid difficult conversations
- Comfortable with digital tools, systems, and figuring out better ways to get things done
Bonus Points If You...
- Have worked in a service, trades, or high-volume frontline environment
- Have built or run an onboarding, training, or performance program from the ground up
- Know what it takes to attract and retain talent in a growing company
- Take a practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to people problems
- Like working closely with leadership and having a real voice in decisions
- Can move comfortably between a leadership meeting and a conversation with a frontline team member
Why Good Sorts?
We're a growing company with a strong team, high standards, and a culture that actually cares about the people in it. We believe in honest conversations, doing what we say we're going to do, and giving good people room to grow. This isn't a role where you'll be handed a checklist and told to stay in your lane. You'll own the people function, solve real problems, build real programs, and have a direct impact on how Good Sorts grows.
If you want a role where you can see the impact of your work, help shape the culture, and build a company people genuinely want to stay at, we'd love to hear from you.
