About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Procurement Engineers (PEs) to support ongoing procurement and supply chain activities at the Bruce Power nuclear generating station in Tiverton, Ontario.
Due to increased project and procurement volume, we are looking to add several experienced Procurement Engineers to the team, with a particular focus on Mechanical Engineering backgrounds.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers, including retired or semi-retired professionals, who are interested in returning to the industry on either a part-time or full-time contract basis.
The Procurement Engineer will provide technical engineering expertise throughout the procurement lifecycle, helping ensure that equipment, materials, components, and services meet the required technical, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical support for the procurement of mechanical equipment, components, materials, and services.
- Review technical specifications, engineering requirements, drawings, datasheets, and procurement documentation.
- Develop and/or review technical procurement specifications and requirements.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, bids, quotations, and technical submissions against established engineering requirements.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations regarding supplier capability and technical compliance.
- Review supplier documentation, engineering deliverables, quality documentation, and technical deviations.
- Identify and assess technical risks associated with equipment, materials, suppliers, and procurement activities.
- Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, and other stakeholders.
- Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and performance management activities.
- Review proposed substitutions, deviations, non-conformances, and requests for technical clarification.
- Provide technical input into supplier negotiations and procurement strategies.
- Ensure procurement activities align with applicable Bruce Power procedures, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and nuclear safety expectations.
- Support resolution of technical issues between Bruce Power, suppliers, contractors, and engineering teams.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, manuals, inspection documentation, and other technical deliverables as required.
- Maintain accurate technical and procurement records and documentation.
- Provide engineering input to support cost, schedule, quality, and risk management objectives.
Mechanical Procurement Focus
Mechanical Procurement Engineers may support procurement activities involving areas such as:
- Mechanical equipment and components
- Pumps and rotating equipment
- Valves and actuators
- Piping and piping components
- Heat exchangers
- Pressure boundary components
- HVAC and ventilation equipment
- Pressure vessels
- Structural/mechanical components
- Maintenance and replacement components
- Specialized nuclear and industrial equipment
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- P.Eng. designation is preferred, or eligibility for professional engineering registration.
- Significant experience working in engineering, procurement, supplier engineering, or technical purchasing within a complex industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering specifications, drawings, standards, codes, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and evaluating supplier technical submissions and proposals.
- Experience with procurement of mechanical equipment, components, materials, or engineering services.
- Strong understanding of supplier qualification, technical bid evaluation, quality requirements, and vendor documentation.
- Experience working within a nuclear, power generation, heavy industrial, oil & gas, or other highly regulated environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, inspection, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, and project teams.
Bruce Power Clearance
Active Bruce Power site clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Candidates who previously held Bruce Power access/clearance and are now retired or semi-retired are encouraged to apply.

Part-time and full-time arrangements may be available depending on project requirements and candidate availability.
