Experienced Sewer & Watermain Pipe Layer – Local 183
Gio Crete Construction Ltd. is looking for experienced Sewer & Watermain Pipe Layers to join our crews working on municipal infrastructure projects, primarily within the City of Toronto and GTA.
Gio Crete specializes in municipal sewer and watermain construction. Our work is typically performed within active urban roadways with existing utilities, traffic and limited working space.
Job Description
The Pipe Layer will work as part of an experienced sewer and watermain crew performing the installation, replacement and connection of municipal underground infrastructure.
Typical work includes:
- Installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermain
- Installation of PVC, concrete, ductile iron and steel pipe
- Installation of water services and sewer laterals
- Installation of maintenance holes, catch basins, valves, hydrants, chambers and related infrastructure
- Preparing bedding and installing pipe to proper line and grade
- Measuring, cutting, fitting and connecting pipe and fittings
- Working within trench boxes, shoring systems and excavations
- Working around existing utilities and infrastructure
- Assisting with connections and tie-ins to existing sewer and watermain systems
- Working closely with equipment operators, foremen and other crew members
Experience & Qualifications
Several years of municipal sewer and watermain pipe-laying experience is required.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience installing municipal sewer and watermain
- Understands line, grade and elevations
- Is comfortable working in excavations and around existing utilities
- Has experience working in busy urban construction environments
- Can work effectively with operators, foremen and the rest of the crew
- Is dependable, safety-conscious and takes pride in their work
Experience working within the City of Toronto or other dense urban municipalities is preferred.
Experience with steel watermain, large-diameter pipe, pipe lasers and other sewer installation/grade-control instruments is an asset, but not mandatory.
Requirements
- Several years of municipal sewer and watermain experience
- LIUNA Local 183 membership / ability to obtain a valid union clearance
- Current WHMIS
- MOL Worker Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- Valid Working at Heights
- Valid Local 183 clearance documentation prior to starting work
- Ability to reliably report to project locations throughout Toronto and the GTA
Position
This is a unionized LIUNA Local 183 Sewer & Watermain position. Wages, benefits, pension and applicable working conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement.
We are looking for experienced people who understand sewer and watermain construction and can become a productive part of an established crew
Pay: From $49.80 per hour
