Position Description:
As a part-time/relief worker on the Residential Facility Team you will be responsible to provide ongoing support and supervision to the residents of the Community Residential Facility for women on conditional release from federal and provincial institutions. This support includes crisis prevention, intervention and management, community liaison, resource referrals and administrative tasks. Assists in maintaining an established working rapport with CSC, MCSS, police, institutions, National Parole Board, Ontario Parole and Earned Remission Board. You will also be expected to assist with the general upkeep of the residential facility, including minor maintenance, and health and safety tasks. Residential Relief Staff work collaboratively within the Residential Facility Team to ensure residents are abiding by all legal conditions of release, while empowering them to work towards, and accomplish personal development goals.
The CRF is a single-staff work environment, with an expectation to work positively and cooperatively with other members of the Residential Facility Team. The ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with clients, staff and community partners is essential. Residential Relief Staff report directly to the Manager of the Community Residential Facility.
Staff are required to be available for a variety of shifts in this 24/7 program including days, afternoons, overnights, weekends and holidays

Rate of Pay:
$20.50/hour

Qualifications:
Appropriate schooling degree or equivalent; social services/social action experience; experience with women's issues and the Criminal Justice System; an ability to understand the dynamics of offender behavior and assess their needs and risks; counselling skills; the skill to understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations; the ability to assist offenders in identifying and solving the practical problems involved in their successful reintegration into the community; the ability to assist the offender in identifying and obtaining the community services required for their reintegration; and ability to understand cultural differences. Must hold a current first-aid certificate; complete a Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC), and an Enhanced Security Reliability Check. Skilled in property management, strong administration and organizational skills; strong verbal/written communication; Experience working in a deadline-driven setting, proven project management skills; strong oral and written communication skills. French language skills considered an asset.
