Position Overview
We’re seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist who values autonomy and flexibility and enjoys working in a supportive, collaborative environment. At ACT, you’ll focus on what you do best—helping clients achieve their therapeutic goals—while working in a dynamic and rewarding setting.
You’ll join a clinic-based team supporting autistic children and youth and other developmental and learning needs. As an OT, you’ll provide assessment, intervention, and consultation, while working closely with clients and their families to set goals and develop practical strategies that can be used at home, school, and in the community. You’ll also work alongside an interdisciplinary team and other service providers to support consistent, family-centered care.
There may also be opportunities to participate in our government-funded Entry to School (ETS) Program. ETS is a 12-month program that supports autistic children as they prepare for and begin school for the first time. During the first six months, children participate in a group program focused on developing school-readiness skills across areas such as communication, play, social interaction, functional routines, self-management, pre-academic learning, and attention.
As a member of the ETS supervisory team, you will provide weekly coaching and consultation to a multidisciplinary team of classroom facilitators implementing the program. During the second six months, the supervisory team provides transition support to school teams as children move into the school environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess skills including emotional and behavioural regulation, social skills, sensory processing and oral, fine and gross motor development.
- Develop treatment plans and intervention strategies to support the development of targeted skills.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive individualized programming.
- Offer clinical guidance to aid the client’s transition to school.
- Provide supervision to occupational therapy assistants in implementing the prescribed treatment plan.
- Participate in teaching and mentoring students and staff in best practices.
- Adhere to the standards of practice regarding assessment protocols and therapeutic techniques.
- Maintain documentation (clinical and administrative) following organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality following organizational policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional education and development.
- Participate in all team meetings when required.
Requirements
- M.Sc. in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
- Membership (or eligibility for) the College of Occupational Therapists.
- Experience working directly with autistic or neurodiverse children is an asset.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and co-operatively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- The ability to provide service in both English and French is preferred.
- A successful Vulnerable Sector screen.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

ACT Learning Centre is a leading-edge, dynamic, multidisciplinary practice in Ottawa, Pembroke and Kingston. We are a multidisciplinary team of Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Registered Behaviour Analysts, Communicative Disorders Assistants, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Classroom Facilitators, and Supervised Instructor Therapists, providing exceptional services to children and youth with autism or other developmental disorders/delays and their families.
ACT Learning Centre is one of the local providers of the Caregiver Mediated Program under the Ontario Autism Program (the Play Project) and the only local provider of the Entry to School Program (a school readiness program funded under the Early Years Pillar of the Ontario Autism Program).
