Full job description

CSC LED is seeking an organized and highly articulate Technical Product Quality Analyst to join our Product Development team for a 1-year contract to cover an upcoming maternity leave. This position is an exceptional opportunity for a graduate of an Ontario college Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technician/Technology program (or an individual with equivalent industry experience) to manage a vital aspect of our product quality, Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) pipeline, and customer service operations.

In this role, you will be the primary technical coordinator for our RMA process, acting as the critical communication bridge between our product technician and our Returns department. Your daily focus will involve managing the RMA technical email flow, translating complex diagnostic failure reports from our primary testing team into professional, customer-friendly written explanations, and resolving customer troubleshooting inquiries.

Additionally, you will play an active role in driving our product development pipeline forward. This includes bench-testing new product samples, performing detailed functional evaluations, and drafting comprehensive technical evaluation reports directly for the Product Manager to help guide design decisions. You will also provide vital backup and secondary hands-on bench-testing support to our primary technician, as required.

Key Responsibilities

RMA Coordination & Communication: Manage primary technical email correspondence with the Returns department, keeping the return pipeline moving efficiently and ensuring prompt technical resolutions.
Diagnostic Translation & Reporting: Review internal diagnostic findings and translate complex electrical failure modes into clear, professional, and easy-to-understand written summaries for the Returns team to relay to customers.
Product Development & Sample Testing: Evaluate and bench-test incoming product samples to support new product development. Conduct functional testing, analyze performance, and draft detailed evaluation reports directly for the Product Manager to help guide product design and release decisions.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Provide professional troubleshooting assistance and resolve product-related technical issues for customers, sales agents, and internal staff (sales, customer service).
Testing Support: Partner with and support our primary technician by assisting with hands-on testing and failure analysis of returned LED fixtures and drivers as needed.
Technical Documentation: Draft and design clear, user-friendly installation instruction sheets and product guides.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, highly accurate records of known product defects and diagnostic findings on our shared drives.

Organization & Detail: Staying on top of the RMA pipeline, ensuring no customer issue or return gets left behind, and keeping accurate technical logs.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Working closely with our primary bench technician, the Returns department, the Product Manager, and the wider sales and customer service teams.
Initiative & Problem Solving: Proactively identifying patterns in product returns and suggesting updates to support resources (such as instruction sheets).
Adherence to Safety: Ensuring absolute adherence to electrical safety protocols and standards when working near live power.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology/Technician, Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician, or a related Ontario college program. Recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply!
LED & Lighting Knowledge (Highly Preferred): A strong understanding of LED lighting technology, including the main components of commercial LED light fixtures (specifically LED driver circuits, LED boards, and optics).
Diagnostic & Tool Familiarity: Solid understanding of electronic troubleshooting, circuit diagnostics, and safe handling of electrical components.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written English skills for managing professional, high-volume email correspondence.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs and assist with hands-on testing/handling of LED fixtures on the bench when supporting the primary technician.
Software Familiarity: General computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Working Conditions

Work Model: Fully in-person role, requiring daily attendance at our Cambridge, Ontario facility. No hybrid or remote work configurations are available due to the hands-on nature of bench testing and physical sample analysis.

Environment: Working in a busy, open-area office and bench testing environment in Cambridge, Ontario.

Schedule: Standard business hours

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
