100% TEMPORARY CUSTODIAN

Location: Unassigned (float)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift: Afternoons 3:30pm-11:30pm;

Must also willing to work Day shift

Start Date: asap

Ending Date: TBA - 80 working days

Starting Rate: $26.82/hr plus $0.85 shift premium on afternoons

Under the direction of the Caretaker-in-charge, the Temporary Custodian will be responsible for:

Cleaning all areas of the school building on a daily basis, as well as clearing ice and snow, performing minor repairs and grounds work, handling garbage, securing the building, reporting maintenance issues, interaction with Community Use groups as required, handling alarm and emergency situations while on shift, and other duties as assigned by the Caretaker-in-Charge.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Grade 12 Secondary School diploma, or equivalent
A thorough understanding of both the Health and Safety Regulations and the W.H.I.M.S. Program
Excellent Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of computer applications as required by the position
Ability to operate the school’s computerized HVAC system
Good eye/hand coordination to safely operate equipment and small tools
Previous related experience

The successful candidate must have the ability to operate equipment such as a snow blower, wet/dry vacuum, steam cleaner, floor scrubbers, buffing machine etc., as well as be able to complete physical work such as dry mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc. Lifting and climbing is a requirement for this position. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, safety conscious, and work with minimal supervision. Daily travel may be required between multiple sites.
