Archaeological Field Technician (Seasonal)

Detritus Consulting Ltd. is hiring Seasonal Archaeological Field Technicians for the 2026 field season (July - Dec). This role involves hands-on archaeological fieldwork on projects across Southern Ontario and is well suited to individuals who enjoy outdoor, physical work and working as part of a small team.
Responsibilities
· Archaeological survey, test pitting, and excavation
· Walking long distances while scanning for artifacts
· Digging, screening soil, and artifact recovery
· Field data recording and documentation
· Working outdoors in all weather conditions
Qualifications
· Interest in archaeology; previous field or academic experience is an asset but not required
· Experience in landscaping, construction, or environmental work is an asset
· Physically fit and able to perform repetitive manual tasks
· Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment
· Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation is required
· Green patch safety boots are required but all other field equipment will be provided.
Compensation & Benefits
· $25.00/hour + 4% vacation pay
· Some commute reimbursement based on distance ($0.73/km)
· Typical work week: 37.5–44 hours, Monday–Friday
· Overtime opportunities may be available
