Full job description

Status: Permanent / Full-time (40hrs / week)

Department: Maintenance

Direct supervisor: Director, Maintenance

Location: Kuujjuaq

Working at NHB means…

Contributing to providing safe, comfortable, and culturally appropriate housing for Inuit residents. It means evolving in a unique northern environment where teamwork, adaptability, and innovation are essential to supporting more than 4,200 social housing units across fourteen communities in Nunavik.

By joining NHB, you will directly contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the housing stock, supported by a team of 145 employees working daily in the communities.

Salary and Benefits

Total compensation including the cost-of-living differential and food allowance, reaching up to $141,000.00 per year, depending on experience
Annual travel allowance for personal travel between Kuujjuaq and the rest of Quebec
Housing provided according to current policies
35 vacation days, payable at the end of the year
16 statutory holidays, payable at the end of the year
12 sick days
Option to accumulate a bank of 80 hours (10 days)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise activities related to preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as the continuous improvement of NHB buildings
Support maintenance coordinators in planning, organizing, and monitoring operations in Nunavik communities
Ensure the availability of materials, equipment, and resources required to carry out planned work
Develop and maintain inventory control procedures and ensure the optimization of stock levels and warehousing operations
Develop, implement, and monitor departmental performance indicators
Promote best practices in occupational health and safety and support teams in achieving operational objectives
Participate in the continuous improvement of processes, work methods, and departmental performance
Act as a resource person during emergency situations and coordinate required interventions

Profile Sought

College diploma in a field related to construction, building management, engineering, or any other relevant discipline
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) years in a management or supervisory position
Additional relevant experience may compensate for the absence of a diploma
Significant experience in building maintenance operations management
Experience in inventory management, procurement, or logistics (an asset)

Excellent organizational, planning, and priority management skills
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple files simultaneously
Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to mobilize teams in a multicultural environment
Analytical skills and sound decision-making
Good knowledge of computer tools and management systems
Fluency in at least two of the following languages: French, English, and Inuktitut
