Materials Inspector & Yard Coordinator

Ladysmith, BC | Full-Time

Starting at $23.00/hour (DOE) plus annual bonus depending on company performance

We are currently seeking a Materials Inspector & Yard Coordinator to join our team in Ladysmith, BC. This is a hands-on, outdoor position that plays a critical role in ensuring incoming materials meet quality standards while supporting safe and efficient yard operations.

What You'll Do

Inspect incoming scrap metal deliveries for quality, grade, and compliance with company standards
Accurately record material information, weights, and inspection details
Direct truck traffic and unloading activities safely within the yard
Monitor incoming materials for environmental or safety concerns
Work closely with customers, drivers, operators, and supervisors
Support daily yard operations and assist where needed
Identify and report equipment maintenance concerns
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety and environmental policies

A Typical Day Includes

Walking the yard and inspecting incoming loads
Communicating with customers and truck drivers
Verifying material grades and quantities
Assisting operations teams with production support
Monitoring traffic flow and ensuring safe unloading practices
Working outdoors in a fast-paced industrial environment

What We're Looking For

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
Experience in industrial, warehouse, construction, transportation, recycling, manufacturing, or outdoor operations environments is an asset
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Commitment to workplace safety
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day

This position is performed primarily outdoors in a busy industrial recycling facility. Employees should expect exposure to varying weather conditions, equipment noise, dust, and other conditions typical of a recycling yard. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and required.
