Salary Range:

$23.50/Hour

The Port Moody Community Services Department is seeking personable, experienced and dynamic Speciality Instructors to assist with classes for preschool and school-aged children. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of programs in a recreational setting and provides a safe and secure environment for children.

Hours & Availability Requirements:

2-5 days per week

Monday - Friday from 8:45AM to 11:45AM (with the possibility of 11:30AM to 1:15PM)
Tuesday - Thursday from 12:15PM to 2:30PM

These shifts are for Fall 2026 through to June 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the lead educator in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
Assist with daily routines within the classroom setting
Support Supervision of children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Observe and document children’s progress and behavior.
Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
Follow all health, safety and City Policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (ECA certification or coursework is a strong asset).
Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting.
Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Clear criminal background check and immunization records as required by local regulations.

Familiarity with inclusive practices and diverse learning needs.
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and classroom needs.
