CSI Corrosion Protection is seeking Sandblasters/Painters to be responsible for abrading surfaces of fabricated components and assist painters when needed while following all safety rules and regulations. Also, responsible for performing surface preparation and cover fabricated components with the appropriate coating.
Responsibilities
- Operate blasting equipment.
- Shovel and/or pour abrasives such as sand into the machine hopper.
- Assist Painters where needed.
- Interpret DATA sheet for SSPC.
- Prepare components which are to be sandblasted.
- Blast according to specifications and remove adhering scaled, rust, dirt, etc.
- Always maintain a clean working area.
- Follow instructions exactly as given.
- Confirm paint specifications are correct and all materials needed are on hand.
- Prepare and clean surfaces for painting.
- Paint only in accordance with the correct specifications and procedure, following all safety rules and regulations.
- Report any issues and/or concerns to the Paint & Sandblasting Lead Hand and/or Foreman.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in a fabrication environment doing sandblasting/painting.
- Knowledge of procedures to abrade surfaces would be a strong asset.
- Industry related safety training.
- Working knowledge and background in fabrication, manufacturing, and construction is essential.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a high pressure and deadline driven environment.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt, and stay focused in a dynamic changing environment.
- Good computer skills are an asset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
