As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying actuarial expertise to real-world insurance products while working closely with product managers, developers, and insurance carriers to deliver innovative technology solutions.
About the Role
As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a key role in implementing and maintaining life insurance and annuity products within our illustration platform. You will analyze product specifications, validate calculations, support product implementations, and ensure our software accurately reflects carrier product designs and regulatory requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of insurance products while collaborating with carriers across the United States and Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain life insurance and annuity products within our illustration platform.
- Interpret product specifications, actuarial formulas, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform testing and reconcile results against carrier illustration systems and actuarial specifications.
- Analyze product changes and assess their impact on existing implementations.
- Translate actuarial requirements into functional specifications for the development team.
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, QA analysts, and carrier actuarial teams throughout implementation projects.
- Investigate calculation discrepancies and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Support product implementations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain technical and product documentation.
- Stay current with life insurance and annuity product changes and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with life insurance and/or annuity products.
- Hands-on experience interpreting product specifications, actuarial formulas, and insurance product calculations.
- Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, including premium calculations, policy values, cash values, surrender values, death benefits, and policy projections.
- Experience validating actuarial calculations and reconciling results against carrier systems or product specifications.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
Preferred
- Progress toward ASA/FSA designation or equivalent actuarial credentials.
- Programming or scripting experience.
- Experience with life insurance illustration systems.
- Knowledge of individual life insurance products.
- Knowledge of annuity products.
- Experience with actuarial modeling tools such as AXIS, Prophet, MG-ALFA, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting re-proposals, renewals, and new business opportunities.
- Familiarity with U.S. and/or Canadian insurance regulations.
- Experience working with insurance carriers or insurance technology vendors.
- Familiarity with using AI tools.
