QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN
Join HyTech Production’s Seed Support team supporting product quality, documentation, sampling, logistics, and regulatory processes. This role is designed for someone who will work alongside experienced team members, perform hands-on tasks, and learn the HyTech Seed Support team function in a fast-paced environment. The position is in-person at HyTech’s Coaldale office, with the potential for future opportunities as business needs evolve.

KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
In this contract role, you will support the Quality Assurance team by completing assigned tasks, assisting with documentation and coordination, and learning the processes that help HyTech meet customer, internal, and regulatory quality standards. You will not be solely responsible for these areas; you will work as part of a team and receive direction and support from experienced staff.
ROLE 1: Sampling & Quality Control Support
· Assist with hand-sieving harvested samples provided by agronomists
· Assist with sampling harvested, cleaned, and treated seed lots
· Pull samples assigned for customer requests, germination testing, or other QA needs
· Prepare paperwork to ship samples to labs and customers under team guidance
o Support communication with CFIA for phytosanitary applications and inspections when required
· Assist with ISTA sampling when required
· Help set up testing with labs and prepare order forms
· Log incoming QA results from laboratories
· Support internal reporting of QA results
· Assist with the greenlight process for seed lots prior to shipping
· Help complete import conformity documents for imported seed and support submission to CFIA
ROLE 2: Certification Support
· Assist the team in confirming customer requirements for sampling, testing, and certification of seed lots
o Support submission of fields to the certifying agency
o Field inspections
§ Track field inspections to support completion of phytosanitary or certification requirements
o Help confirm that specific testing required for import/export is completed
· Support submission of QA documents to CSGA for final certification of pedigreed productions
· Assist with requesting tags, breeder letters as appropriate, and variety descriptions from customers
· Help provide customers with crop certification information as directed
ROLE 3: Quality Assurance Support
· Assist with maintaining the QMS Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
· Participate in internal audit preparation and support activities related to Seeds Canada standards
· Collaborate with team members on Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions to reduce the likelihood of recurrence
ROLE 4: Logistics & Inventory Support
· Assist with keeping import/export documentation up to date
o Help confirm that import permits are on file
§ Assist with applying for import permits HyTech requires
§ Support CFIA website administration and service request updates as directed
o Assist with communication to CFIA/CSGA regarding required documentation
· Support real-time inventory recordkeeping for seed movement
· Help track lot numbers, treatment dates, and batch information for regulatory compliance and customer traceability
· Palletize and log samples as assigned
· Assist with inventory review activities
· Support scheduling and coordination of inbound deliveries of seed and treatment products.
· Assist with planning and coordinating outbound seed shipments.
· Communicate with carriers, drivers, and internal teams as directed to support timely and accurate deliveries.
· Prepare shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and inventory transfer records with team support.
SKILLS REQUIRED
· Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal, customer, and vendor communication.
· Ability to identify and communicate Quality Assurance issues to the appropriate team members.
· Willingness to learn regulatory requirements and industry standards for quality control and quality assurance.
· Strong attention to detail.
· a clean driver’s abstract.
· Basic Microsoft Office skills, data entry ability, and willingness to learn inventory software systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS REQUIRED
· Previous experience in quality assurance, laboratory work, agriculture, or the seed industry is considered an asset but is not required
· A science-related degree, diploma, or current enrolment in a related program is considered an asset.

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
