Location: Liverpool, Nova Scotia (South Shore region)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week - overtime will be needed at times including nights, weekends
Wage: $19 per hour
Benefits: 2 weeks of paid vacation per year
Work Setting: Private household / Employer's home

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and highly skilled Home Child Care Provider to care for an infant in our private household located in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. The caregiver will support the child’s daily routines, safety, development, and well-being while maintaining a nurturing, healthy, and structured environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide attentive, safe, and nurturing care for an infant
Assist with feeding, hygiene, diapering, and daily routines
Support breastfeeding routines and infant feeding practices
Follow safe sleep guidelines and maintain consistent sleep routines
Engage the child in age-appropriate developmental and educational activities
Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment in the home
Prepare and serve nutritious meals for the child
Perform light housekeeping duties related to child care (washing bottles, child’s laundry, nursery organization)
Monitor, record, and report changes in the child’s well-being and development to parents
Follow household routines and instructions provided by parents

RequirementsEducation

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required
Post-secondary education in nursing, child development, or a related field is considered a strong asset

Experience

Minimum 5 year of full-time experience in child care, home support, or nursing is required
Specialized experience with newborn care, breastfeeding support, and infant sleep routines is considered a strong asset

Language Requirements

English (essential)
Portuguese is considered a strong asset to support the child’s cultural and linguistic development

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently in a private household and follow instructions
Strong communication and reporting skills
CPR and First Aid certification
Absolute confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to swim to assist with swimming classes
must have own vehicle/mode of transportation

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Work performed in the employer’s private home (non-smoking environment)
Must be comfortable with parents working from home (if applicable)
Flexible schedule depending on the child’s needs

Start Date: As soon as possible

Pay: $18.38-$19.00 per hour
