Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Ophthalmic Assistant to join our healthcare team in a full-time position. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic ophthalmology practice, assisting with patient care, administrative duties, and supporting clinical operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in eye health, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient service. Prior experience in medical offices or optical settings is preferred but not required, as training will be provided.

Duties

Greet and assist patients during their visits, ensuring a welcoming environment
Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories
Assist with patient testing, including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements and adminstering eye drops
Support physician during eye exams and procedures, ensuring smooth workflow
Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment
Ensure patient comfort and professionalism throughout the visit
Prepare and organize patient charts before examinations
Document patient information accurately
Support front desk with administrative duties as needed

Requirements

Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or medical clinic settings preferred
Understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology and general healthcare
Excellent patient care skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced clinical setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
