The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation’s sole purpose is to raise funds to acquire patient care equipment, support educational endeavours, and upgrade the Hospital’s physical facilities. The Foundation plays a fundamental role in supporting excellence in patient care at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
Through the generosity of community donors, the Foundation has transferred almost $84 million to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital since 1985 and helped medical staff save lives and improve the health of thousands of patients.
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is a 179-bed facility located in the City of St. Thomas and serving all eight municipalities within the County of Elgin. It is a fully accredited hospital offering a full range of hospital services and achieved Accredited with Exemplary Standing status from Accreditation Canada.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is seeking a Donor Relations Specialist who is responsible for coordinating and administering donor stewardship, donor records management, pledge administration, volunteer engagement activities, and donor communications in support of the Foundation’s fundraising priorities. This role serves as a key operational lead for donor experience and stewardship processes, ensuring accurate donor information management, timely donor recognition and follow-up, and consistent execution of relationship management activities across the Foundation. This role will also oversee donation intake and pledge administration processes for gifts received by mail, telephone, and in person, ensuring complete and accurate donor documentation. They will coordinate with the Database and Finance Specialist to support accurate gift entry, reconciliation, and issue resolution. The Donor Relations Specialist will maintain pledge tracking and prepares supporting donor materials including invoices, gift agreements, acknowledgements, and custom correspondence.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Fundraising/Nonprofit Management, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and directly related donor relations experience will be considered
- Proficiency in donor database management, specifically Raiser’s Edge NXT, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Previous experience in the coordination of volunteer programs, including: recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and stewardship
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with donors, volunteers, hospital staff, and leadership
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship practices, and relationship management within a healthcare or nonprofit environment
- Experience supporting donor programs (eg. Legacy, Bursary, Individual Giving) with an understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Basic computer skills (Outlook Email, Word, Excel)
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
- Excellent attendance record in alignment with St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation’s attendance policy
- Acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH’s mission, vision, values and code of conduct

HOURS:
The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Foundation.
