Position Summary

Are you a motivated and entrepreneurial individual who wants to be more just another employee in the corporate chain? BMT is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Technologist that is motivated, has a strong interest in geotechnical engineering, lab testing and works well in a team. Individuals who are enthusiastic about taking more control of their careers will be well suited to meet the expectations of this position. The successful candidate will complete site investigations and exploration programs, provide construction support services, undertake topographic surveys, provide office support and assist with materials testing and quality control activities.

About BMT Materials Testing Ltd. BMT is a Manitoba owned and operated laboratory services firm that also provides engineering consulting in geotechnical and environmental fields. We operate in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and are headquartered in Brandon, Manitoba. BMT provides in-house laboratory testing and construction management capabilities with on-site quality control testing services. BMT has provided design and construction services to both public and private sector clients on numerous projects including building foundations, bridges and culverts, civil infrastructure such as roadways, water treatment plants, hospitals and flood protection. Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related program.
Preferably at least 2 years of experience in engineering consulting and the construction industry. Geotechnical experience will be considered an asset
Registered or eligible for registration as a C.Tech. or C.E.T. in Manitoba.
Strong communication, organizational skills with an attention for detail.
Willingness to work overtime and travel outside the City of Brandon regularly.
Comfortable working on construction sites.
Soils testing skills will be considered an asset
AutoCAD, GeoStudio, and Civil 3D experience considered assets.
Surveying experience is considered an asset.
Valid Class 5 drivers’ license required.

Key Responsibilities

Complete subsurface investigations.
Observe pile installations.
Undertake resident contract administration for construction projects.
Perform geotechnical instrumentation monitoring.
Perform site surveys.
Conduct materials testing and quality control inspections.
Assist senior staff with geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting.
Perform other engineering-related responsibilities as required.

Compensation and Benefits
