Full job description

We are looking for an experienced HVAC / Mechanical Technician to join our construction team on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems. Experience with commercial construction projects, boilers, rooftop units, ventilation systems, and hydronic heating systems is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and mechanical systems.
Install and service furnaces, rooftop units, air handling units, make-up air units, exhaust fans, boilers, pumps, and related equipment.
Install ductwork, ventilation systems, diffusers, dampers, and related components.
Work with hydronic heating and mechanical piping systems.
Complete HVAC rough-ins and final equipment connections.
Perform equipment start-up, testing, troubleshooting, and basic commissioning.
Read and understand mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
Identify mechanical deficiencies and recommend appropriate repairs or solutions.
Coordinate work with project managers, electricians, plumbers, and other trades.
Assist with material take-offs and ordering required equipment and materials.
Ensure all installations are completed according to applicable codes, project specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Travel to different project sites within Winnipeg and surrounding areas as required.

Qualifications

Previous HVAC or mechanical experience is required.
Strong understanding of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and mechanical systems.
Experience with commercial HVAC and mechanical systems preferred.
Experience with boilers, hydronic systems, rooftop units, pumps, and ventilation equipment is an asset.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and construction plans.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation preferred.
HVAC, refrigeration, gas-fitting, sheet metal, or related trade certification is considered an asset.
