Full job description

Qualifications – Healthcare Facility

Current registration with the applicable provincial nursing regulatory college
Minimum 2 years of relevant Canadian Operating Room experience (required)
Perioperative Certificate (required)
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Permanent, Full-Time
Strong leadership and clinical skills within an Operating Room environment
Hours: Full-time

Responsibilities:
Team Leads are required to adhere to their professional scope of practice and applicable provincial standards. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Provide clinical leadership and support to the Operating Room team while ensuring safe and efficient patient care
Coordinate daily OR operations, including supporting surgical schedules, staffing, and case flow
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure effective delivery of surgical services
Support staff by providing guidance, mentorship, and clinical expertise across a variety of surgical specialties
Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, organizational policies, and professional practice requirements

Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility and shift, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.

Experience:

2 years of relevant Canadian Operating Room experience (required)
Previous experience in a Team Lead or other OR leadership role is an asset
Perioperative Certificate (required)
Experience with ophthalmology, general surgery, plastic surgery, and/or orthopedic procedures is an asset
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment

Skills:

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail for patient safety, surgical documentation, and operating room coordination
Ability to effectively lead and support a multidisciplinary surgical team
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
