Kafrit NA Ltd is a producer of plastic resin used for Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX), which is a common material used in drinking water pipe. Kafrit is actively working to diversify our production capabilities into other plastics manufacturing opportunities. We are currently looking for a new Production & Maintenance Assistant to join our team at our facility in the Gloucester Industrial Park (Langley, BC).
This role is an entry level position into the plastics industry. You will be exposed to plastic extrusion and operating equipment involved with our manufacturing process. We endeavor to provide supplemental training and knowledge for our staff such as theory on plastics and other polymers, machine efficiency, and lean manufacturing principles. We offer First Aid training to anyone interested, and all Production staff are forklift trained and certified by our in-house trainer.
Safety is one of our key principles at Kafrit. We have an active Safety culture that involves regular training, consistent audits and inspections, and worker input and feedback for improvement. We have not had a workplace injury in over two and a half years.
Kafrit NA is a small company that has a large impact in the North American market and beyond. We aim to develop our staff and promote from within as much as possible. Staff that started in this position have moved into technical positions in our Lab, Maintenance positions, and Senior Management positions. Due to our culture and performance, the average time of employment for staff at Kafrit NA is over 9 years.
This position is a hybrid role between Production and Maintenance. The successful candidate will be trained in production, and then spend the majority of their time in the Maintenance Department. The role will cover vacation and sick time in Production, as needed; which will require schedule flexibility (we will aim to provide as much notice as possible, and understand that it will not always be possible to cover every situation). This role will report to the Maintenance Lead, and intermittently to the Shift Lead in Production. There is a possibility of this position becoming a full time Maintenance role with the potential to take on a trade designation that is relevant to our manufacturing operations (Dependent upon business demand).
Our plant runs 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Production staff rotate shifts every two weeks.
- Day Shift is 6 AM - 2 PM
- Afternoon Shift is 2 PM - 10 PM
- Night Shift is 10 PM - 6 AM
Staff are expected to arrive 10 minutes before their start time to ensure proper shift handoff. Typically Night shift does not work Fridays, and the Day and Afternoon Shifts are shorter on Friday, but this is not guaranteed to always happen. There are also times where all staff are required to work on the same shift to complete regular maintenance and cleaning tasks, but there will be ample notice for those types of events.

- Raw Material Handling and Loading
- Quality Control Checks
- Operating a Forklift for Material Handling Purposes
- Using Hand Tools for Maintenance and Equipment Cleaning
- Site Maintenance and Cleaning
- Participating in Safety Drills and Training
- Other Duties as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Legally able to work in Canada without restriction
- Proficient in verbal and written English
- Able to commute to job location (No public transport in area)
- Able to reliably lift 25 kg
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must provide own steel toed safety shoes (Other PPE is provided)
- Experience with Plastics is an asset
- Experience with Manufacturing is an asset
- Experience with Hand Tools is an asset
- Experience with a Forklift is an asset
- Relevant Trades Experience is an asset
- Welding and/or Fabrication Experience is an asset
Compensation & Benefits
- $55,000 - $60,000 per year (Pay will depend upon Experience)
- This role is salaried, but workers are still eligible for OT pay, as per BC Labour Law
- Annual Bonus based off of Safety and Quality Control
