About CEA

Canada Energy Audit Ltd. (CEA) supports energy-efficiency initiatives and provides energy services for residential and commercial clients. We operate in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, structure, and timely reporting are essential.

Role Summary

We are hiring a Junior Financial Analyst to support day-to-day finance operations and reporting. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with strong Excel skills, solid accounting fundamentals, and high attention to detail. You’ll support transaction review, reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and recurring reporting, including exposure to multi-currency (CAD/USD) activity.

Responsibilities

1) Reporting & Analysis (Junior level)

Prepare and maintain recurring weekly/monthly reports and KPI trackers in Excel using accounting exports and internal schedules
Support basic variance tracking and investigate data inconsistencies for review
Maintain trackers for revenue, vendor spend, purchasing/sales summaries, and margin support schedules (as assigned)

2) Month-End Close Support

Assist with month-end close using established templates and checklists
Prepare supporting schedules (e.g., accrual support, prepaid/expense analysis, clearing account support)
Perform basic balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items

3) Transaction Processing & Documentation

Organize and validate supporting documents for key transactions (invoices, receipts, approvals, purchasing records)
Support consistent coding/classification to maintain clean financial records
Coordinate with internal teams to obtain missing documentation and clarify transaction details

4) Multi-Currency Support (CAD/USD)

Support tracking and documentation of multi-currency transactions (CAD/USD) and related schedules
Assist with basic reconciliation support for multi-currency payments/receipts and ensure documentation is complete
Maintain FX support schedules (e.g., rate trackers) as assigned

5) Process Improvement & Data Quality

Help improve reporting templates and standardize recurring trackers
Identify process gaps and propose practical improvements (checklists, standardized naming, automation opportunities)
Assist with documenting finance procedures and maintaining organized records

Qualifications

0–2 years of finance/accounting experience (co-op/internship experience counts)
Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS; comfortable working with structured templates
Basic accounting knowledge (GL, reconciliations, accrual concepts, balance sheet vs P&L)
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time-sensitive, recurring tasks
Clear communication skills and ability to follow structured processes

Assets (Nice-to-Have)

Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or similar accounting software (asset; training available for strong candidates)
Exposure to multi-currency transactions and/or purchasing/sales workflows
Interest in pursuing CPA (or related professional development)
